CACS Volunteer Opportunities At-A-Glance
GRADE ASSIGNED VOLUNTEER NEEDS
We rely on volunteers to help our school run! It would be great for each individual adult to set a goal to volunteer at least 20 hours during the school year, but doing any little bit helps. Teachers will have many ways to volunteer in the classroom, but here are some of the school-wide ways we all need to pitch in.
MORNING WHITE ZONE DUTY
Each grade is assigned morning white zone duty a few times a year. Your class reps will send out reminders to sign up. Volunteers come around 8:20am, set up cones, make sure kids get out of cars safely and keep the drop-off line moving. At 9am the cones are brought inside and the Turk street door is closed. It’s fun to greet everyone in the morning and is a great way to kick off your day!
STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCH
Each month on a Tuesday (early release day), there is a potluck staff appreciation lunch provided by a grade. Families bring in tasty treats (look for a potluck signup sheet from your class reps) to feed our wonderful staff. Each grade will provide lunch once during the year.
COMMUNITY MEETINGS
Community Meetings are a chance for the whole school to gather on the school yard in the morning, hear from a grade what they’re working on, sing songs together, acknowledge birthdays and more. Parents are welcome to come to any and all community meetings! There are usually 3 per month on Friday mornings at 9am and they last about 30-45 min.
If your grade is presenting at the Community meeting, you are responsible for setting up coffee in the yard for the adults to enjoy! It’s easy to do, and you get the first cup. Volunteers get a table from the storage room, the coffee and supplies from the office and set it up in the yard. After the meeting they put everything away.
SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS
We have some wonderful all-school events that happen every year. Have an idea for an event or want to help plan one of the existing events? Contact the Family Association or come to an FA meeting. Any and all ideas are welcome.
FAMILY WORK DAY
Before classes are back in session, families come to meet the teachers and help get the classrooms and school ready for the kids! Food and drinks are provided, and kids are welcome to come if they’re able to help!
