Diversity at CACS

"Creative Arts is an open community, welcoming and inclusive of everyone. The progressive nature of the school is in line with my core values."

Diversity at CACS

As a community-based charter with a mandate to outreach to and support under-served communities, Creative Arts has always been committed to fostering and celebrating diversity. This core value is reflected in all aspects of our life as a school and as a community.

The Diversity Committee, chartered by the Board of Directors, creates an open forum for families and staff to explore and discuss issues of diversity at CACS and to provide related recommendations to the school's leadership and community members. In addition to offering frequent events and educational materials, the Diversity Committee supports enrollment and outreach, hiring, and family engagement.

Our school's vision and values are reflected in our official Diversity Statement below:

“Creative Arts Charter School seeks to reflect the increasingly diverse world in which our students live. We embrace differences and commonalities across race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender orientation, physical and learning differences, and socio-economic class, as well as other characteristics that construct our unique human identities.

Our goal is to create a respectful and responsive community where each member is valued and significant. In order to achieve this goal, we:

  • Actively recruit and support students, teachers, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Foster confident self-identity while building empathy and relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commit ourselves to an anti-bias agenda that celebrates diversity and challenges inequality and all forms of bias.
  • Empower students as leaders to stand up for themselves and others to create a more just world.

We understand the reflection, dedication, and perseverance necessary to meet our goal. We believe meeting this challenge will make us stronger as individuals and as a community.”
